Chief of the Department of Neurology and the Medical Director of the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Stroke Center. Board certified in both Neurology and Psychiatry, as well as in Vascular Neurology.
Specialist and a leading neurologist in the state, known for his expertise in using Botulinum Toxin to treat various neurological disorders, including migraines, dystonia, and spasticity. With over twelve years of experience as Stroke Director, they guided the Harvey R. Chaplin Family Stroke and Chest Pain Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center to achieve the prestigious designation of a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Your attending has been hosting rotations for FMG Portal students/graduates for over 15 years.
Rotation Description
During your Neurology clinical rotation with FMG Portal, you will gain valuable hands-on experience allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, clinical setting under the supervision of an experienced neurologist.
Additionally, your performance during this rotation will lead to obtaining a US LOR, which is essential for your upcoming residency program applications.
Objectives:
- Clinical Skills Development: Develop skills in history taking, neurological examination, and diagnostic reasoning specific to neurological conditions.
- Knowledge Application: Apply their understanding of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neuropathology to real patient cases.
- Patient Care: Learn to manage patients with acute and chronic neurological disorders, considering both medical and psychosocial aspects.
Daily Activities:
- Patient Consultations: Conduct and/or Observe patient interviews and neurological examinations, present findings to the supervising neurologist, and discuss differential diagnoses and management plans.
- Outpatient Clinics: Participate in outpatient visits, gaining exposure to chronic neurological conditions and long-term patient management.
- Procedures: Observe procedures such as lumbar punctures,
electromyography (EMG), and electroencephalography (EEG).
