Attending Introduction
From your attending: Board Certified Ob/Gyn with 24 years of experience. Activities during rotation: office, hospital rounds, cesarean section, vaginal deliveries and Gyn sx. I can provide transportation (office/hospital/office) only.
You will have hands-on experience in the outpatient setting, including interacting with patients, taking medical histories, performing basic physical exams and observing diagnosis and treatment conditions and also inpatient observational experience.
This attending has been hosting rotations for FMG Portal students and graduates for over 12 years.
Rotation Description
Your OB/Gyn clinical rotation with FMG Portal will provide you with hands-on experience in the ambulatory care and hospital setting of women’s health issues. The rotation will focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of a variety of conditions related to obstetrics and gynecology.
Additionally, your performance during this rotation will lead to obtaining a US LOR, which is essential for your upcoming residency program applications.
Patient Care:

History and Physical Examination: Conducting comprehensive gynecologic and obstetric histories and performing physical exams, including pelvic exams, breast exams, and prenatal assessments.

Preventive Care: Providing routine preventive care such as Pap smears, HPV vaccinations, breast cancer screenings, and contraception counseling.

Common Conditions: Diagnosing and managing common gynecologic conditions like infections, menstrual disorders, and menopausal symptoms.
Obstetrics:

Prenatal Care: Monitoring and managing normal pregnancies, including regular check-ups, ultrasounds, and fetal monitoring.

High-Risk Pregnancies: Exposure to the management of high-risk pregnancies, including gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and multiple gestations.

Patient Education: Educating expectant mothers on nutrition, exercise, labor and delivery processes, and postpartum care.
Gynecology:

Routine Visits: Performing annual well-woman exams and addressing common concerns such as menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain, and contraception.

Procedures: Learning to perform or assist with in-office procedures such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, IUD insertion, and removal.

Screening and Prevention: Understanding the guidelines for screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), cervical cancer, and other gynecologic cancers.
Typical Activities/Procedures
Patient Appointments:
Conducting initial and follow-up appointments, managing acute and chronic conditions, and performing routine health maintenance.
Letter of Recommendation
LORs are on the official clinic letterhead. You may also ask the attending to include hospital affiliations on your LOR, and you can also mention them on your CV and Personal Statement.
