Attending Introduction

From your attending: In my role as a Board Certified Pediatrician with over twenty years of medical experience, I employ a teaching approach that involves setting a positive example, guiding case-based discussions, and offering supportive feedback and hands-on coaching. Outside of work, I cherish spending quality time with my family and indulging in series watching. Im employed also by NYU Langone, Pediatric ED attending teaching pediatric residents over 12 year. Patient load is approximately 20-40 patients per day.

Rotation Description

During your Pediatrics clinical rotation with FMG Portal, you will have the opportunity to learn about the care of infants, children, and adolescents in an ambulatory setting.

Additionally, your performance during this rotation will lead to obtaining a US LOR, which is essential for your upcoming residency program applications.

Here are the key components and learning objectives of a Pediatrics rotation. *Please note that all rotations will have variations of patients and may not include the entirety of the following:

Patient Care: 

  1. Well-Child Visits: Conducting comprehensive well-child exams, monitoring growth and development, administering vaccinations, and providing anticipatory guidance.

  2. Acute Care Visits: Diagnosing and managing common acute illnesses and injuries in children, such as respiratory infections, gastroenteritis, and minor trauma.

  3. Chronic Disease Management: Managing chronic pediatric conditions such as asthma, ADHD, and obesity, including creating management plans and coordinating with specialists.

Professional Development:

  1. Communication Skills: Developing skills in communicating with children of various ages and their parents or caregivers, including providing clear instructions and addressing concerns.

  2. Family-Centered Care: Learning to involve families in the care plan, understanding the family dynamics, and addressing psychosocial aspects of pediatric care.

  3. Ethical and Professional Conduct: Upholding professional behavior, confidentiality, and ethical standards in interactions with pediatric patients and their families.

This rotation is essential for you to gain the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality care to the pediatric population, emphasizing preventive care, early detection of health issues, and effective management of common pediatric conditions.

Patient Appointments:
Conducting initial and follow-up appointments, managing acute and chronic conditions, and performing routine health maintenance.

LORs are on the official clinic letterhead. You may also ask the attending to include hospital affiliations on your LOR, and you can also mention them on your CV and Personal Statement.
